We hope you all had a Happy Mother's Day weekend.
We have rescheduled the General Meeting for Saturday May 22 at 2pm at Jeremy and Tammi's home. We canceled the last one because we only had a couple RSVPs but I later heard there were a few of you who didn't RSVP but planned on attending. PLEASE RSVP!! We need a head count for food and we would not have cancelled had we had more people commit.
We will serve a late lunch/early dinner. Please BYOB and set ups. We also welcome side dishes, appetizers and desserts, but it is not necessary.
Other business:
As most or all of you know we unexpectedly lost a member and friend this week. David Spear passed in his sleep on Friday morning. Myself and your Officers would like to extend our deepest condolences to Lisa. We would like to honor David and will be discussing the details to see what we can put together. We will keep you posted.
There have been a few accidents on the water recently. On May 5th someone put a bow rider on top of the break wall at The Palms. On the 7th there was a roll over of a commercial vessel, and 3 people went in the water from a rental. They rented a boat, didn't have jackets on, and apparently no one on the boat knew how to swim. They drifted for a while, leaving the search and rescue team no definitive place to start the search. The recovery efforts are now on day 4 for the 2 who did not make it back on the boat. On the 9th there was another capsized boat. If you see anything while on the water please let our first responders know as soon as possible. In light of the ongoing issues on the lake we ask you remember the basics: Life jackets save lives. Be a responsible boater. People look to our members to set an example. Please set a good one. And please be safe.
